In 2009, Lara became active in music. He married Christian author and pastor Gwen Shamblin on August 18, 2018. He was also the father of one child with Natasha Pavlovich from their previous relationship. He lived in Brentwood, Tennessee. Lara was a certificated pilot holding multi-engine commercial and instrument ratings along with a type rating for the Cessna Citation I. Joe Lara was an actor, martial artist, model, and musician. He made his cinematic debut in the 1988 horror/war movie “Night Wars”. In response to fan demand, he released his debut album, “Joe Lara: The Cry of Freedom.” He also worked with A Soldier’s Child Foundation that helps children who have lost their parents while serving in the military. His ethnic background was Mixed as he was born to parents of Native American Indian, Polish, and Spanish heritage. He was best known for his role of Tarzan in the American TV series “Tarzan: The Epic Adventures” He was a licensed pilot. He started flying in 1978. He was 6’3″ tall. On May 29, 2021, he and Gwen were on their plane, a Cessna C501, with Brandon Hannah, Davin L. Martin, Jennifer J. Martin, Jonathan Walters and Jessica Walters, who all had ties to the Remnant Fellowship Church. The plane crashed into the waters of the Percy Priest Lake in Tennessee. In the evening, he and the other six passengers were presumed dead. He died at the age of 58.
